UPDATE: WE HIT CAPACITY AT 200 RSVPS TODAY (7/8 AT 3PM). WE'RE OPENING UP THE RSVP TO ANOTHER 200 ATTENDEES BY TAKING OVER A SECOND FLOOR AT LOCAL 16.

UPDATE: WE'RE OVER 600 RSVP'S SO I'VE INFORMED THE VENUE WE'LL NEED THE ENTIRE BUILDING TO ACCOMMODATE UP TO 700 GUESTS. IF WE HIT 700, A WAITING LIST WILL BE CREATED. IF YOU CAN'T MAKE IT, USE THE "CAN'T MAKE IT" TICKET SO YOU GET INVITED TO THE NEXT EVENT LIKE THIS.

UPDATE: WE HAVE TO CLOSE THE RSVP LIST AT 610 AS THE VENUE MIGHT GET A LITTLE TOO PACKED AS IT IS. THERE IS A WAITING LIST TICKET SETUP, SO PLEASE USE THAT. IN THE LEAST, YOU'LL BE NOTIFIED OF FUTURE EVENTS. IF YOU'RE NOT ABLE TO ATTEND PLEASE EMAIL PETER AND LET SOMEONE COME IN OFF THE WAITING LIST.

UPDATE: WOW. YOU GUYS REALLY WANT TO HANG OUT WITH EACH OTHER HUH? WE CLOSED THE RSVP FOR THE "LOCAL 16" VENUE AT 610 GUESTS. WE'VE SECURED "CHI CHA" LOUNGE NEXT DOOR AS WELL SO THAT WILL LET 70 OFF THE WAITING LIST AND GIVE THEM A PLACE TO HANG. IF YOU'RE ON THE WAITING LIST, PLEASE GO THERE. THERE WON'T BE AN SPONSORED OPEN BAR, BOOK SIGNING, ETC., BUT THEY HAVE HAPPY HOUR SPECIALS AND GOOD FOOD. YOU'LL CERTAINLY MEET SOME GREAT PEOPLE. CHI CHA IS RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO LOCAL 16, SO IF THERE IS ROOM ( BECAUSE PEOPLE LEAVE, DON'T SHOW UP, ETC) WE'LL TELL THE BOUNCE TO LET YOU IN...YOU'LL JUST HAVE TO POKE YOUR HEAD OUT OF CHI CHA TO SEE IF THERE'S ROOM.

What:

The Potomac Region's technology community keeps growing and innovating with each passing day. Keep the pace by grabbing a drink with the leaders in broader technology community: do a deal, find some talent, or just hang with your friends on July 17th at Local 16, on 1602 U St. NW, Washington DC.

Please make sure to RSVP now as you'll need to be on the list to get in and we may run out of room!

When:

Thursday, July 17th, from 6:00pm-9pm

Where:

@ Local 16 - on U Street between 16th and 17th St. NW. Parking is available at The Reeves Center (MAP) two blocks away for $7. The U Street Metro stop is 4 blocks away (MAP).

AND @ Chi Cha Lounge next door for the 70+ folks on the waiting list that want to come meetup as well.

Why:

Three reasons:

1) we have $500 to spend that was left over from WidgetDevCamp; and perhaps more importantly

2) the recent Washington Post coverage of 'Washington's Twin Tech Towns' has highlighted the need for the region's divergent technology communities to start integrating more. We're happy to report that the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC) will be supporting and attending the event as co-hosts.

Additionally, the The Washington, DC Economic Partnership and the Greater Baltimore Technology Council are supporting the event and will work ensure leading technologist who are a part of their organizations are in attendance; and

3) Sarah Lacy has added us to her User Generated Book Tour and will be dropping in to say a few words, sign books, and learn more about our tech culture. Sarah Lacy has reported on startups and venture capital in Silicon Valley for nearly a decade. She writes Valley Girl, a biweekly column for BusinessWeek and co-hosts Tech Ticker on Yahoo! Finance.

Our WidgetDevCamp Sponsors

WidgetDevCamp had overwhelming support from our sponsors (Blattner Brunner, ClearSpring, Webs, AmnestyWidgets, LaunchBoxDigital, Design Reinvented, iStrategyLabs, StaffMagnet, SkeevisArts, Jess3 and Limina) and so we've got some cash left over to have an open bar follow-up-get-together.
